Hazegras CLOSED AUG 2026

For decades, Hazegras was Ostend's well-known red-light district. Its location close to the harbour and railway station played an important role in the development of the area. The prostitution windows were mainly located in Vrijhavenstraat, Vooruitgangstraat and Oesterbankstraat. As part of the neighbourhood's redevelopment, the windows gradually disappeared. In August 2026, window prostitution in Hazegras closed permanently and the sex workers moved to the safe, purpose-built workspaces at Hangar d'Amour inside the restored Hangar 1.
